Isle I Do: Have a Beach Wedding Bonanza

Have a Beach Wedding Bonanza
Fun in the sun for your coastline nuptials
Whether it's the latest trend in green weddings or the beckoning call of the surf, couples are hitting the beach like a matrimonial wave to recite their vows. Back in the 80s, (when words like "cowabunga" were cool) there was a surge of beach weddings and it is completely understandable why they would make a comeback. They are fun, relaxed and much cheaper than the standard indoor wedding.
The flexibility of the beach wedding scene is as vast as the sea itself. Options range from carrying all the formalities of an indoor wedding on the sand, to getting married in a wetsuit (seriously, people actually do it). Whether you fall in between those two extremes or not, a beach wedding is all about having fun in the sun and giving your guests an experience they will not soon forget.
Common Trends
Dress Code: Tropical
Let's be realistic, a beach wedding is supposed to feel like you're relaxing in paradise with friends (note: no one relaxes in paradise wearing a full ball gown). Dress elegantly casual for your beach wedding. An ankle length chiffon skirt with a spaghetti strap bodice is perfect for a wedding by the sea shore.
For the groom, khaki slacks and a linen button down shirt is a welcome change from the necktie and 3-piece suit. Footwear would include anything from sandals to sneakers or you can even go bare foot. High heels are not a good idea (you can probably figure out why).
Rent-a-Tent
Sitting in the scorching sun or racing out of a sudden downpour are two unfortunate situations that guests at outdoor weddings can sometimes find themselves in. Since you don't want your guests to get sunburned or soaked providing a tent or some alternate means of shelter will ensure that everyone is adequately protected from extreme weather changes.
Unique Ideas
- Forget the limousine; ride in on a Wave Runner
- Tell all your guests to arrive barefoot
- After you say "I do", run and dive into the water together
